Inconel 718 Seamless Tube is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel chromium material. It is used at -423° to 1300°F. It is composed of nickel 50-55 %, chromium 17-21%, niobium and tantalum 4.75-5.5 %, and trace amounts of cobalt, molybdenum, manganese, titanium, aluminium, copper, silicon and other elements. Inconel 718 Seamless Pipe has one of the distinguishing features of composition i.e. the addition of niobium to permit age hardening which allows welding and annealing without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling.
ASTM B163 UNS N07718 is used in jet engine and high-speed airframe parts such as buckets, wheels, and spacers, and high-temperature bolts and fasteners. It is also used in the oil and gas drilling and production industries due to its high resistance and strength to chlorides, sulfide stress cracking and stress corrosion.
