S355j0w Plate is a weathering steel plate and is an equivalent to Corten B plate. As S355J0W steel rusts when exposed to atmospheric elements, the material builds its own protective layer which prevents the steel from further oxidation. Therefore like all weathering steels, S355J0W steel grade also offers excellent, cost effective protection against atmospheric conditions without the need for painting or external treatment. 1.8959 Steel has higher strength than any other steel grade and it has unique combination of strength and toughness. It is being worked in the annealed condition and this makes it more compatible to be formed, machined and welded. And hence it makes it more favorable for the machined purpose.

EN10025-5 S355J0W is very widely used in marine transportation, in the construction of shipping containers. EN 10025-5 Grade S355J0W has number of alloying elements, such as phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel and molybdenum and it has been added to increase its resistance to atmospheric corrosion, by forming an auto-protective oxide layer on the base metal under the influence of weather conditions
